Are you accepting new clients

I am currently only accepting clients ages 18 and older via the Hims & Hers therapy platform.

How much is therapy through Hims & Hers?

Therapy through Hims & Hers is $99 per session. There are no subcription requirements, and you are only charged after each session.

What about non-binary clients? The name "Hims & Hers" does not sound very inclusive.

Despite the name, Hims & Hers offers inclusive service to tran men and women as well as non-binary clients. My mission as a therapist is to be affirming and to empower all members of the transgender and non-binary community. That has not changed and will never change. I would be honored for trans and non-binary folks to sign up to see me on the platform.

Do you accept insurance?

I am unable to accept insurance via the Hims & Hers platform at this time.

I currently accept Optum/United Healthcare and Cigna insurance at my private practice. However all private practice slots are full at this time. If I do not accept your insurance, I can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance provide for reimbursement. Please note that repayment is at the sole discretion of your insurance provider. Also note that submitting an insurance claim means I will need to make a mental health diagnosis.

Do you have a sliding scale?

The cost of out-of-pocket therapy averages anywhere between $125-$175 per session in the Greater Kansas City area. My goal is to be mindful regarding the cost of maintaining a private practice, and the fact that paying $125 a week for therapy is a financial burden many cannot afford. I intentionally set my current rates so that there would not be a need to have a sliding scale fee for most people. I am happy to make referrals for outside treatment sources that offer low-cost/no-cost services with prospective clients.

How often will we meet?

Typically I prefer to meet with clients at once a week or twice a month at the very least. Change requires consistently practicing the skills acquired in therapy. It is very difficult to maintain lasting changes by only attending sessions once a month or so. However, I realize that every situation is different and I certainly take into account financial circumstances that may make weekly therapy impossible. We will discuss all available options when we meet.

What is your cancellation policy?

I require at least 24 hours notice for all cancellations. You are responsible for paying for the appointment if you no show or cancel less than 24 hours in advance. I do understand that emergency situations come up, and I will do my best to work with you on a case by case basis.

What if my question isn't listed here?
